Laxminarayana college of Arts and Science for women, Dharmapuri, initiated the under graduation degree in the department of Physics for the academic year 2010 – 2011 and it was established and the post graduation department of physics for the academic year 2016 – 2017.

For the academic year 2017 – 2018, 371 students for under graduation and 30 students for post graduation were admitted. So totally 401 students are being educated well.

The Department is provided with well advanced equipments in the laboratory. The general library of the college includes more than 1300 books.

From the year of establishment of the PG department of Physics, Seminars are conducted every year for the enhancement of the students knowledge. In these seminars, apart from the syllabus, the overall general advancement happening in the subject physics is lectured by the esteemed professors from various universities.

Along with this, students were also guided for their future through this seminars, by explaining them the different branches and field of physics and job opportunities.

Our institution has grown well in a very short period of time, because of the results produced by our students.

• Dummy text is text that is used in the publishing industry or by web designers to occupy the space which will later be filled with 'real' content. This is required when, for example, the final text is not yet available. Dummy text is also known as 'fill text'. It is said that song composers of the past used dummy texts as lyrics when writing melodies in order to have a 'ready-made' text to sing with the melody. Dummy texts have been in use by typesetters since the 16th century.

Further the pride of our department are Ms. M. Vanitha was awarded university rank 10 for the academic year 2013 - 2014 for her under graduation. For the academic year 2015 - 2016 Ms. V. Vaitheshwari won the university rank 6 for UG.

To make the students well understand their subject and enhance their knowledge, power point presentations were made for them students were experience and realize the advancements and applications of physics.

For every academic year the successful pass rate of the students are above 90 percentage.

In the Nov/Dec semester exams of the academic year 2017 – 2018, conducted by the periyar university Salem 367 students out of 372 students of UG secured good marks and passed in all the exams. Among the post graduation students, all the students appeared for examination has passed, securing good marks.

As a whole, 398 students were passed among 403 and the department has produced 98.75 overall result.

We have conducted a seminar programs not only to develop the students education but also to develop the general knowledge which are oriented to the physics.

• For this seminar Dr. V. Rajasekaran Ph. D Asst. prof., in Dept of Physics Government Arts and Science college, Viyarsarpadi, Chennai came as the chief guest and conducted the seminar on the topic “CRYSTAL IN OUR LIFE” on 26 th August 2016.
• The second seminar has conducted on 26th December 2016 on the topic of “RECENT TRENDS IN MATERIAL SCIENCE” and to this seminar Dr. M. Selvapandiyan Associate Professor in Dept of Physics, Periyar University PG Extension centre, Dharmapuri has came as the chief guest.
• The third seminar has conducted on 17th feburatry 2017 a lecture was given by the as came as the chief guest Professor V. • The fourth seminar has conducted on 8th September 2017 on the topic of “NANO SCIENCE” and to this seminar Prof. K. Ravichandran, Department of Nuclear Physics, Guindy campus, University of Madras, Chennai.

In our department we have taken our I and II PG students to visit the Vainu Bappu observatory. It is located at kavalur in Javadhu Hills, near vaniyampadi in vellore district.
